The Quilter Trophy will also be awarded to the highest scoring player graded 160 and below if they have not previously won it.

 

 

Playing schedule

Time control is 75 minutes per player for 36 moves then a further

15 minutes to complete all moves.

 

Saturday

Round 1                  09:30  - 12:30

Round 2                  13:45 – 16:45

                                                  Round 3                  17:15 – 20:15

Sunday

Round 4                  10:00  - 13:00

Round 5                  14:00 – 17:00

 

Prize giving ceremony will follow at around 17:15

 

Grades

 

Grades published in the latest ECF list will be used for this tournament.

 

Players without a grade in the ECF list must give details of estimated playing strength, including any previously held grading, or current grading from another body.  In all matters the controller’s decision is final.

 

 

 

 

Location

Lindum Business Park is situated to the south of Lincoln. The park lies alongside the main A46 trunk road and is only 12 miles from the A1. North Hykeham station is 100m from the entrance. The Atrium is a spacious and bright conference facility with adjoining areas for refreshment and analysis.

 

Smoking

No smoking is allowed within the venue.

 

Refreshments

Soft drinks and tea/coffee will be available on the day and Asda, local pubs and shops are nearby.

 

Notices

Prizes may be amended subject to numbers of entries.  The submission of an entry form and payment of the entry fee is acceptance that the controller’s decision is final. In the event of a tie for the championship, progressive scoring will be used to determine the winner.

This event, to be organised by the Grimsby Chess Club, will take place on Sunday 25th July 2010

The first Round will begin at 1.00pm, this will be a 4 round competition, with a Buffet break after round 2.

                      The 2010 Lincolnshire County Chess Championship will be held on 17th/18th July 2010 in Lincoln at a venue to be decided.Please keep this date free!! This year there is a large prize fund including many grading prizes thanks to the generosity of Herman Kok and the Lindum Group.We are trying to encourage all levels of player to enter so come on and give it a go! Entry forms will soon be sent out for the event but obviously I have not got everyones e-mail address so please pass this on to other members of you club or anybody else who may be interested in playing.

ALF NEWMAN MEMORIAL QUICKPLAY CHESS TOURNAMENT

 

SATURDAY 12th JUNE 2010

Entry fees are £8 per adult and £4 per child (a child is counted as being under 16 on 1/9/09). All entry fees will be returned as prizes. Please note there will be a penalty fee of £2 for entries postmarked after 6th June.

 

Each player will have 25 minutes on the clock to complete all moves, i.e. a game lasts a maximum of 50 minutes.

 

The prizes are the Alf Newman memorial shield and at least £50 for the winner. There are also cash prizes for second place, third place and the highest player graded under 120. Also the Nottingham Building Society Shield will be awarded to the highest ranked player affiliated to Louth who has not won it before. Cash prizes are dependent on the number of entries received.

 

Coffee, tea, squash & biscuits will be available free of charge. No other food will be provided.

 

Limited parking will be available outside the venue.

 

Please note: In all matters concerning the tournament, the decision of the controller shall be final and binding on all players. The congress committee reserves the right to refuse any entry, although such applicants will be notified.

 

Early entry to the tournament is advised as the venue has limited capacity. It may not be possible to accept entries on the day.
